Message: I was in Probie School with Mike, and I remember one day the fire commissioner came into class and asked for volunteers to participate in a tug of war down on wall street vs the NYPD and teams from the different brokerage houses. We went down and easily beat the brokers, but once the cops came on, they were like somoans, they pulled and pulled but we wouldnt let go of that rope if our lived depended on us, finally they pulled so hard that they tore the tape holding the astroturf to the pavement, and pulled us across the line on the carpet. Just a funny anecdote. I think of Mike often, and carry his memory with me always at work.

We are proud to have received the flag in honor of Michael D'Auria and immediately came home and displayed it. Our thoughts will be with Michael's family every time we disply the flag.

Message: Mike and I went to Probie School together. We went through most of the evolutions of the academy together. His sense of humor and drive helped me to get through some of the more difficult physical challenges. I'll never forget how our squad worked together to help Mike get thru the final run. I wish we could have done some of the things we talked about in probie school. I think of him often and miss him.
