23 Years Later...We Shall Never Forget

From: Keith Patrick Larsen
Date: 06/14/2006
Message: No words can express the courage and bravery of Firefighter Winuk (and he was a firefighter first), and of the FDNY and NYPD who died that day. But Ernie Pyle, a WWII correspondent who died himself on the front lines later in the war, wrote a sad, wonderful memorial for those that died. And as 9-11 showed, America still makes Men as we did then. "I heard of a high British officer who went over this battlefield just after the action was over. American boys were still lying dead in their foxholes, their rifles still grasped in firing position in their dead hands. And the veteran English soldier remarked time and again, in a sort of hushed eulogy spoken only to himself: "Brave men. Brave men."
