From: Ellen Date: 09/10/2006 Message: To the Miller family, As we come so close to the 5th anniversary of the death of Robert Alan Miller, it is time for me to tell my tale. I read every biography in the NY Times of those whose lives were ended that fateful day. For may months, reading the paper, I knew no one. And then, one day, I looked at his picture, and I remembered. I saw not only Robert, but I saw Max and Diane, his parents, and I saw the 5 year old Robert Alan Miller, dressed in his cowboy outfit, legs straddling his bicycle. And I remembered that picture of he and I together, in our cowboy/cowgirl outfits. I, too, straddling a bicycle. Preserved forever in a photograph, with my very first boyfriend. 41 years after that picture of us was taken, I still recognized his face. I did not need a biography to tell me who he was. Although I have never been in touch with his family, I will always remember. And when I cry on September 11th, I cry for Robert Alan Miller and his family. Sincerely, Ellen Faith |
