Based on personal conversations and interactions with him, he was a very personable, charming, family man always talking about his family. In the 1990’s, my office was a block from the Towers during the first Trade Center bombing and I attended a meeting in the Towers a few weeks before 9/11 - when I read that John was there on that day, I had one of those “there but for the grace of God” moments and it also put a very personal face on the tragedy that engulfed so many that day.
